True luxury begins with respect for nature
This conviction is rooted in our origins - because our most valuable asset springs from the depths of the earth itself.
Long before sustainability became a trend, a sense of ecological responsibility was firmly anchored in Pyrolave's identity. Since the first enamelled lava slab in Castelsarrasin, this commitment has been with us - noticeable in every decision we make and in every workpiece that leaves our premises. It is an attitude that our entire team is proud to share.
Like every treasure, lava rock also has its own environment worthy of protection. It lies at the heart of a unique landscape: formed by ancient volcanic eruptions, crossed by the Auvergne Volcanoes National Park, the UNESCO-protected Limagne Fault, the Natura 2000 zones and the underground sources of the world-famous Volvic water.
In respectful harmony with these sensitive ecosystems and within the framework of the strictest legal requirements, our work there is almost invisible. And this is precisely where our philosophy lies: excellence is not created in spite of, but out of a deep respect for nature, origin and craftsmanship.
Pyrolave: A natural material for sustainable projects
The decision in favour of a natural raw material is the basis of any action that wants to be truly responsible.

A GIFT FROM NATURE
Extracted directly from the earth's interior, lava stone is an original gift of nature - authentic, unadulterated, exceptionally durable and completely free from artificial additives.

EXTREMELY DURABLE
Resistant and durable - Pyrolave surfaces last for over a century. Whether on façades, in hotels, restaurants or in private homes - their durability is part of their value

SUSTAINABLY PLANNED
Enamelled lava bricks are ideal for construction projects with a low ecological footprint: HQE, LEED, BREEAM. We are happy to create a customised carbon footprint analysis on request.
Origin meets responsibility
Lava rock is far more than just a raw material - it is a geological cultural asset, formed over millions of years. At Pyrolave Suisse, we treat this natural wonder with deep respect. Our extraction is carried out with an awareness of its origin, its value and our responsibility towards the landscape that gives it to us. For us, sustainability does not start with the product, but at the source - in the quarry itself.
Natural extraction
Our lava stones are extracted without the use of chemical substances. Quarrying is carried out purely mechanically or with targeted manual work - resource-conserving, precise and in harmony with the geological conditions.
Utilisation of natural breaking points
Before a block is removed, we analyse existing fracture lines and tectonic structures in the rock. This allows us to maximise material efficiency and minimise unnecessary interference with the natural formation.
Limited volume
Our extraction is deliberately limited. A maximum of 1,000 tonnes of lava rock are extracted each year - a quantity that consistently reflects our principles of consideration, quality and longevity.
Return to the natural state
Every intervention is an obligation. That is why each of our extraction sites is renaturalised during ongoing operations - carefully, in a way that is adapted to the landscape and with the aim of avoiding visual and ecological traces in the long term.
Sustainable in every step
At Pyrolave Suisse, sustainability does not end at the quarry. It accompanies every step of our production - from energy supply to occupational health and safety. In our workshops, we rely on modern technology, efficient cycles and a deep sense of responsibility towards people and the environment.
Energy from solar power
Our production sites are powered by solar energy - our panels generate over 2.4 million kWh every year. That's more than we consume ourselves. The surplus flows back into the grid and supports a sustainable energy future.
Water recycling at the highest level
Thanks to a specially developed high-performance system for treating process water, we save around 1,500 m³ of fresh water - month after month. This keeps water consumption to a minimum in the long term.
Sustainability in detail
For us, responsibility also means: packaging made of wood instead of plastic, preferential transport by rail or ship, consistent waste separation on site - and the willingness to constantly scrutinise and improve everyday processes.
Protection and future for skilled trades
We believe in craftsmanship - and in its further development. That's why we invest not only in machines, but above all in people. Our enamellers work with exoskeletons that protect their health and improve their freedom of movement - far beyond legal standards.
Craftsmanship with origin
The traditional savoir-faire from France forms the basis - but at Pyrolave Suisse it takes on a new dimension. In Switzerland, we refine lava stone with the utmost precision, genuine craftsmanship and an uncompromising commitment to quality. We work exclusively with our own material - from the quarry to the finished surface, each piece is created under our supervision, from one source, with one goal: to create lasting value.
Own origin, own signature
Our raw stones come exclusively from the Pyrolave quarries - nothing is bought in. This allows us to guarantee unrivalled quality and complete transparency along the entire production chain.
Tradition meets precision
In the heart of Switzerland, decades of expertise from Volvic merge with Swiss manufacturing standards. The combination of meticulous craftsmanship and technical excellence is tangible - in every cut, in every surface.
Genuine craftsmanship
Each piece is processed by experts - not on the production line, but at the workbench. No two elements are the same, and that is precisely what makes our products so characterful and unique.
One material, one promise
At Pyrolave Suisse, we build exclusively with our own lava rock. This creates trust, control and consistency - for construction projects that impress today and stand the test of time tomorrow.
Tradition that lives on
Only regional craftsmanship of the highest quality bear this prestigious label - a sign of rare, technically sophisticated expertise. We share this honour with weavers, tanners, goldsmiths and knifemakers who keep the heart of their regions alive. They all stand for a craft that is not only preserved, but also developed further.
Only 400 km from the origin
We control our production from A to Z. Every step - from lava extraction in the Volvic quarries to enamelling in our workshops in Tarn-et-Garonne - is entirely in our hands. Short distances, full control, uncompromising quality. This is how we ensure that every workpiece fulfils our claim to excellence.
