Origin of the lava rock
Formed by volcanic activity over thousands of years, lava stone is a natural material with a unique character. The Volvic quarry, in the heart of the Auvergne Nature Park, has been supplying high-quality basalt for generations, which impresses with its resilience and natural elegance.
Traditionally, this stone was used for buildings such as cathedrals, fountains and monuments. However, its true iconic effect unfolds in its enamelled form - known from the ornate metro signs in Paris.
Today, Pyrolave Suisse brings this exceptional material to Switzerland: as enamelled lava stone with precise processing, versatile colouring and a surface that sets new standards in bathrooms, kitchens and interiors.

In addition to our permanent collection, individual colours are also possible - based on Pantone or RAL codes, fabric samples or even works of art.
More than 6,000 colours have already been developed at Pyrolave. Gloss, matt, gradient, opaque or transparent - every surface is unique.

A unique surface
Every surface is unique. Only during the firing process does the enamelled lava reveal all its special features - from pigment grains to fine crack structures and smooth edges. A large selection of existing edge profiles adapts to every area of application. On request, we can develop customised finishes for particularly demanding projects.
